Dear Freedom Seniors and Parents:

Senior Awards Night will be Thursday, May 31 at 6 PM in our main gym. Seniors are required to attend and must wear their caps and gowns. Seniors should meet in the stadium for the class picture at 5PM and then report to their assigned locations by 5:15 PM to line up for the awards ceremony. Preferred dress is as follows:
MALES white shirt, dark tie, slacks, and socks, and dress shoes;
 FEMALES-light colored dress shorter than the gown and FLAT BOTTOMED dress shoes.
Seniors are NOT allowed to decorate their caps. Graduation Practice will be June 8, 2018 at 8:00 AM. Seniors must also participate in graduation practice to be included in the graduation ceremony. Seniors must be in their assigned locations by 8:00 AM. If the graduation ceremony is held inside, seating will be limited; each senior will receive 10 tickets at graduation practice. Graduation will be June 8, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Seniors should report to their advisors in the same rooms as graduation practice no later than 6:15 PM. Dress code is the same as it is for Awards Night.

To be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony, students must do five things:
1. Earn all required Burke County Public Schools and North Carolina Board of Education credits.
2. Clear all debts/cafeteria debt/holds and return all school-owned items to the appropriate staff by 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 31. Ms. Anderson, FHS bookkeeper, will accept money for debts daily.
3. Participate in Senior Awards Night.
4. Complete and turn in all make up time by June 1, 2018 to Mr. Collette, Assistant Principal.
5. Participate in the graduation practice on June 8, 2018 at 8:00AM.

The graduation ceremony is a dignified event to honor the entire graduating class, one senior at a time. Seniors will receive the diploma cover during the ceremony and must report back to their advisement rooms immediately after the ceremony to receive their diplomas. If a student misbehaves during the ceremony, his/her diploma will be held, and he/she must schedule an appointment with school administration to get the diploma. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.

Felicia Simmons, Principal
